Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, The Fort Smith BBQ Society must cancel the KCBS competition portion of our event. We regret and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. On Friday evening, May 16th, we will still hold a "BBQ on the Avenue" event with a KidsQ, Media Challenge, Backyard Division Cook-off, live entertainment, and other festivities to benefit the Celebrity Classic. We will of course have some of the best BBQ in Arkansas as well. Even though the Fort Smith BBQ Society is unable to hold our sanctioned competition, we are still going to honor our commitment to raising money for this charitable cause. 2008 Backyard Division

RULES
Each backyard team will consist of one chief cook and no more than 3 assistant cooks. A person can not cook on a Backyard Division team and cook on another team on the same day.

Each backyard team will be assigned one 20’ X 20’ cooking space.  Electricity will not be available in the Backyard Division area.  Small and low noise generators are allowed.

Each backyard team may compete in two backyard categories; Backyard Chicken and Backyard Ribs.  Backyard teams will follow the KCBS rules and regulations but is not a sanctioned KCBS event.  All judges will follow the KCBS judging procedures. Backyard Division entries will be judged only against other Backyard Division entries.

Each backyard team will provide their own pit or pits to be used exclusively by that team.  You can not compete with a gas burning grill or pit.  Wood or charcoal burning grills and pits only!

Registration for the backyard division is $50 per team.   There will be a mandatory Backyard Division cooks meeting at or about 8:00 am on Saturday, May 17th.
